Areosa Martins Tavares Advogados has announced the opening of its law firm following the union conceived by partners João Carlos Areosa, Ricardo Arvaniti Martins and Daniel Tavares.
This new firm has a team of 15 professionals, and offices in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, ready to provide personalised legal services capable of providing agile, assertive and innovative responses to advisory and litigation matters.
The firm has relevant national and multinational players in its portfolio of clients, who are served in the areas of dispute resolution (litigation, mediation and arbitration), succession planning, tax consulting and litigation, white-collar crime, labour and corporate/M&A.
João Carlos (pictured left) has more than 15 years of experience in complex litigation before national and international arbitration chambers, at all levels of the Brazilian judiciary and before administrative bodies, in particular the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Central Bank. Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Chicago Law School, with emphasis on arbitration and complex litigation, Master of Civil Procedure Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), specialist in Corporate Law and Capital Markets from FGV-Rio and graduate of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). He was partner of Mattos Engelberg Echenique Advogados and associate of Machado Meyer Advogados, Barbosa Mussnich Aragão Advogados, Tauil e Checker and Bocater Camargo Costa e Silva Rodrigues Advogados, and is a member of CAMAGRO’s list of arbitrators.
Ricardo (pictured centre) has 15 years of experience in judicial and administrative tax consultancy and litigation at all levels of the Brazilian Judiciary and before administrative bodies, in particular the Administrative Council of Tax Resources and the Tax and Fees Court. Master’s Degree in Tax Law from FGV-Fundação Getulio Vargas, specialist in Tax Law from USP – University of São Paulo, specialist in Tax Accounting Planning from PUC-SP, Law Degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. Former partner of Focaccia Amaral e Lamonica Advogados and associate of Queiroz e Lautenschläger Advogados and Lobo & Ibeas Advogados.
Daniel (pictured right) works on highly complex and high-profile criminal cases related to the major police operations that have marked the last few years. He has experience in representing individuals and legal entities in all instances and courts, both advisory and contentious in Criminal Law and Economic Criminal Law. Postgraduate in Economic Criminal Law from Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV, specialist in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law from the Institute of Economic and European Criminal Law of the University of Coimbra and from the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences – IBCCRIM and graduate in Law from the Law School of IBMEC. Previously, he was a partner at Mattos Engelberg Echenique and an associate at Castelo Branco Advogados.
